Arwin was born in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on October 13, 1971. He studied choral conducting, piano, flute and voice at the College of Music of the University of the Philippines, graduating magna cum laude. He also finished his Master of Music degree in Musicology at the same university.
His interest in the choral arts has been cultivated through his involvement with the Philippine Madrigal Singers, under the guidance of Prof. Andrea O. Veneracion. Arwin has also done compositions and arrangements for choirs, and some have been performed as pieces in international competitions by some of the more distinguished choirs in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
Arwin has conducted choral workshops in the major cities of the Philippines, as well as in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. He is actively involved in music research, and he has read a paper at the Philippine Musicological Society Conference in 2003.
He is currently a member of the faculties of the UP College of Music, the St. Scholastica’s Conservatory of Music, the Ateneo de Manila University and the Asian Institute of Liturgy and Music. He is also the conductor of the Cultural Center of the Philippines Chorale.
